Why: human leadership in the age of ai
As more decisions are delegated to algorithms, the choices left to humans will become fewer but far more consequential. Those choices still remaining will define the direction, culture, and meaning of our work and organizations. More often than not, they’ll be imaginative, moral, and irreducibly human.
AI can simulate analysis, pattern, even persuasion. It can add to our thinking in remarkable, efficient ways. But it cannot experience true stakes, or feel responsibility. It cannot sense when timing, tone, or trust are on the line. Each time we delegate judgment, interpretation, or empathy to technological determinism, we risk dulling the musculature of our own agency.
In this new age, what will be scarce is not data but imagination and discernment. And that’s the realm of human leadership.
My work concerns the moments when leaders and teams must honor their intuitions, test their convictions, and make the choices that carry real weight. Through conversation and collaboration, our work together will produce the human clarity and creative energy that no system will ever automate.
How: A few ways we might work together
Creative Acupuncture & Executive Story Coaching
Sometimes you’ll be best served by a sharp, well-placed conversation or a short burst of focus: a one-off or ad-hoc session to get unstuck or see around a corner. Other times, the most valuable move will be to build a rhythm: a retainer arrangement that keeps a creative sounding board close by, whether for you or across your organization. Retainers make deep work not only possible, but also likely; I accept a limited number each year.
Strategic Narrative
This could require a short, focused engagement, such as sharpening a piece of in-progress work, editing a draft or offering critique to a team, or finding the critical narrative thread through complexity. On other occasions it might call for a project that runs a little longer: something time-bound and deliverable-driven, where I’m supporting you and your team to build something more comprehensive.
Hosted Leadership Experiences
Immersive, co-designed moments such as retreats, gatherings, or on-stage conversations are typically project-based, with clear goals and a defined arc. My hosting and facilitation services are also available as a standalone offer, for a fixed fee.
Talks & Keynotes
While my work is mostly about elevating others through their work, I also accept my own public speaking engagements from time to time. My topics are typically related to storytelling; how leaders build healthy creative cultures; humanism in the age of AI; and the power of narratives to shape the futures we choose to make. Each is bespoke, tuned to the themes and audiences you’re bringing together. Recent keynotes and panel appearances include at SXSW, Design Korea, COP28, Dubai Future Foundation, NY Climate Week, and Taproot Ignite.
